Construction Update
July 20, 2024
Over the last few weeks, the contractor completed complete base rejuvenation using a method called full-depth reclamation (FDR) cement stabilization and paved the new HMA (Hot-Mix Asphalt) binder course along the entire limits of Souwanas Trail and Oceola Drive. Storm sewer improvements near the intersection of Oceola Drive and Souwanas Trail were also installed.
Additionally, installation of the segmental block retaining wall began, and the contractor started staining the cast-in-place wall and three-sided structure. In the coming weeks, the contractor plans to complete installation of the new segmental concrete block wall and make various adjustments to structures along Souwanas Trail. The contractor will also continue preparing parkway areas for topsoil installation along the trail. Progress on the Souwanas Trail project is 85% complete! I appreciate your patience as the Village nears completion of these critical public improvements! |

Construction Update
July 6, 2024
Over the last few weeks, construction continued with sanitary sewer testing on Sandbloom Road and milling the existing HMA surface off Souwanas Trail and Oceola Drive. Additional work included grading aggregate base, parkways, and curb.

We are excited to have reached this project milestone and begin a critical point in construction with these roadway improvements. The map below shows the road restrictions along Souwanas Trail during that time.
The project team wishes the community a safe and happy Fourth of July weekend!

Over the last few weeks, construction continued on Souwanas Trail. Throughout the project limits, the contractor installed sidewalk and curb and gutter along the north limits of Souwanas Trail.
Additional work included pouring concrete for driveways and curb and gutter along Oceola Drive as well as the installation of topsoil, seed, and an erosion control blanket along Souwanas Trail. An erosion control blanket is a biodegradable, open-weave blanket that provides temporary cover and support for establishing vegetation on bare soil areas. This work is part of the landscape restoration effort to repair areas distributed by construction activities.
Work will continue over the next few weeks on the following items throughout the project limits of Souwanas Trail:
